First Steps

It is GREAT to have Frankie home! He slept on the entire ride, not making a peep. I did take one small, accidental detour but a quick consult at a McDonald's parking lot with the map put Mom and me back on the right road.

The new boy hid all afternoon and night Saturday. Sunday, I went to check on him and he had hidden behind a mirror so I pulled him into my lap to get a good look at him and hold him and see how he is. After I put him back he didn't want to stay there. To 'get away' he had to walk by me. So I petted him while he walked away (glad he did not run) and then he started purring-- REAL LOUD motorboat type. When I stopped petting him, he came back for more. He likes the kissing sound so I did that and he came back for still more pets. He ate a little bit of food yesterday and also has been in the litter box, but I don't see that he has peed or pooped yet. He didn't want to play with any of his toys but i am ecstatic that he didn't run to hide right away. One thing I noticed is he has no discernible "scruff" on his neck. Just muscle there.

Last night he woke me up with his meows, the first I've heard. Wish it hadn't been at 1 a.m. when I was trying to sleep. He wanted out of the room but I am not ready for him to do that yet. I kept the room light on and read for an hour, then we both went to sleep till my alarm. I invited Frankie onto the bed several times. He was VERY close to doing it but didn't, just popped his head up a couple times. That's fine.

Tonight I will put up the baby gate after work and he and Vincent and Magic can all sniff sniff each other and hiss or what not while I watch. If it gets too nuts I will shut everything down and close the door once more, to try again tomorrow night.

All's well!
