Saturday

Took Magic to the vet and they drew blood from her neck and her leg to see what is up with the heart murmur she has. They found that in May. It was a fight but thanks to good vet works, a very skilled vet tech and a nice cat muzzle, the blood was gotten, along with a urine sample for a baseline. Also my little girl's lost a pound of weight so I am back to feeding the old Science Diet food along with a newer one that has chciken and they seem to like.

After the vet I took Magic with me to my parents' to use their internet. That was about an hour and a half stay and I hung out with Richard too, he was watching TV. Went for chicken nachos from Baja Fresh. That meant parking and leaving Magic in the car but I knew it'd be fast so I rolled the windows down, went in, ordered, back to the car to run the AC, back in for the food and we were on the way home. Except for one thing..I noticed when I was turning on the car the 2nd time that my radio clock had reverted back to noon, it was after 2 p.m. So I reset it and the cat and I headed on home.

Magic was too happy to get out of that cage.

Love Bug

Frankie should be renamed Herbie the Love Bug! Just kidding, everyone. Seriously, he is always there at the front door to say meow, with Magic, whenever I get home. After his usual 15 min. of himself time under the table in the kitchen, I can pick him up, pose him, snuggle him, any which way, pretty much, and he doesn't care. He sleeps nightly on my bed and in the morning, same thing, Pretzel Frankie. In fact, at any given moment, I can pretty well pick up any of the cats and love on them so he has fit right in. Magic hates being held unless it's her idea tho, and I can't get Vincent to let me hold him like a baby--that was how I used to towel and medicate him.

Frankie--good love cat

So Cool stuff

Ethel came back! That means I am off bird duty! Ok ok, till Saturday. Then she's going to Jersey for a visit with her daughter. In the meantime, she brought me back this really cool paperweight of the Natural Bridge in Virginia. That's where she stayed, a campground near the bridge.

I brought it to work to help with the clutter on my desk. Pretty cool, huh? Nothing like the Natural Bridge anywhere in the world. And it is known the world over.

Last night I was reading Masterharper of Pern before bed and Frankie laid right next to me. He let me belly rub him as much as I wanted and just kind of rolled around on his back. Then, I shut off the light and fell asleep.

Foiled again!

Last night when I went to put the birds and cats to bed at Ethel's, Spaz (pictured below) was out again. This time, not my fault. He was locked up as directed but he still managed to push his way out thru the food bowl doorway. After a brief chase around the apartment, I trapped Spazzy temporarily in the bathroom so I could get him fresh water from the kitchen and reset the locks properly. I moved the lock on the escape door to cinch up the door better. After trying a couple of things, the simplest answer was to drop a towel on him. He stood still in the bathtub and let me take him to his cage.

Sweet revenge was mine. This morning, Mr. Spaz was on his perch in his cage where he belonged.

Good bird.

Not by the feathers

So I am watching Spaz, Chelsey, Frankie bird, Peanut, Tommy and Tygger while my friend, Ethel, is away. This morning, I found out that Spaz

had gotten out of his cage last night. My fault, left his water bowl door open, but, what a dope am I? Got him back in the cage all right, fixed the error of my ways and went off to work. He didn't fight me going back in so I am grateful. And I guess a teeny weeny bit of a bird whisperer, ha!

Important Date

I haven't seen the wild one since Monday night. I put food out last night anyway, I think it was eaten but in trying to get to work I really didn't check.

Happy 2nd Month Anniversary to Frankie Blue Eyes (aka Frankie PA)!! He is a cool cat. Strangers still send him into hiding (not when they are feeding him, apparently) and at times he likes to duck under the tablecloth of the kitchen table. He lets me pick him up, sticks to my legs like glue when I'm standing and I can cradle him, baby-style. He likes to eat what the others eat. Last night, he was licking his chops in the midst of eating his wet food and Magic came in and took over his bowl. He let her. It is the only time she is willingly that close to him, as in, less than 2 inches. He just watched her eat. I will have to move the bowls further apart this evening. Wherever Vincent goes, Frankie tends to follow. Now you would think Vincent being the blind one, the opposite would occur, but not yet. Frankie is slowly infiltrating his way into Vincent's life and becoming his buddy.

Extra ear scritches and playtime for all tonight!

Brown black tabby stripey kit

Last night I went outside around 8:30 and there was a brown tabby out there. With a little bit of nice voiceness and cooing I got it to come over to me. Definitely a kitten, I'd guess 4-6 mo. old. I think Magic, at least, knows we have a little visitor outside. I gave it 1/2 cup of my cats food and this morning it was all gone, except some crumbs for the ants. Tonight's not a feeding night, I don't want the kitten to think it gets something daily. Hopefully it will find a better offer and stop coming around.
